The USS Enterprise, NCC-1701, is a fictional starship in the Star Trek media franchise. The original Star Trek series depicts her crew’s mission “to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before” under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. The ship’s basic design “formed the basis for one of sci-fi’s most iconic images”.[2] A refit version of the ship appears in the first three Star Trek films. The 2009 Star Trek film, which takes place in an “alternate, parallel” timeline,[3] includes a redesigned version of the Enterprise.
